Lambs Rugby: Lambs and Crawshays set for Sunday clash

The Lambs have named their side to take on Crawshays Welsh XV on Sunday, their third game of the season.

The Lambs went down in a nailbiter to Irish Exiles in their opener before beating Coventry Academy last week, now they head over to Abergavenny RFC on Sunday looking to make it back to back victories in the 1pm kick off.

The side sees plenty of changes from the side that defeated Coventry last time out, skipper George Jones of Millfield moves from the flank to the second row to join AKS Lytham’s Toby Merrick, who started last week.

Into the back row then comes Bishop Stortford College’s James Sisterston, with St Peter’s York’s Freddie Wharton and Mount Kelly’s Antonio Suarez going again. In the front row the Northampton School for Boys pair Jacob Steel and George Cresser come in to prop, with Trinity’s Ross Sinclair between them.

Out in the back line Royal Hospital School’s Joel Sheldon comes in at 9 to partner Merchant Taylors’ Ted Church, the centres remain unchanged Taunton’s Thomas Houghton-King and Mount Kelly’s Charles Warren working together again, Warren is also vice-captain for the second week running. In the back three there is just one change as Millfield’s Aaron Molnar comes in on the right wing, Shebbear College’s Connor MacMillan remains on the left, with Ampleforth College’s Joe Barrett again at full back.

On the bench are Rugby’s Jimmy Hill and Royal Hospital School pair Michael van Haren and Eli Govindasamy, with Lord Wandsworth College’s Paris Mcerlain and Sir Thomas Rich’s William Loftus joining them alongside Oundle’s Jasper Orlebar and King’s Canterbury’s Kyan Cherwayko.

Speaking ahead of the game, Lambs National Director Alex Laybourne said: “Crawshays have a long and proud tradition of fielding some of the very best young welsh talent, and it is a privilege for us to be playing them in their centenary year.”

“We know we will be facing a seriously passionate team, and the game will be a great contest on the field, as always. If the boys can produce more of the rugby they have displayed against Irish Exiles and Coventry then I am sure it will be a spectacle not to miss.”
