Live Stream: U18 National Clubs Cup – Guildford v Luctonians

This Sunday the NextGenXV live stream cameras will be heading to Guildford RFC to take in the Boys U18 National Clubs Cup quarter final between Guildford and Luctonians.

The game kicks off at 1.30pm, allowing plenty of time of Guinness Six Nations fans, at Guildford’s Broadwater home.

You will be able to watch all the action through our YouTube channel, or via the embedded video below.

Both sides have a long and proud history, with Guildford celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, having been formed from old boys of RGS Guildford and Goldalming Grammar back in 1922.

En route to this point, Guildford enjoyed wins over Franham, Andover, Reading Rams, and a thriller in the last 16 against Worthing, 28-22, while Luctonians, who hail from Kingsland in north Herefordshire, have come past Worcester, Ledbury, Old Patesians, and then, much like Guildford, a thrilling last 16 tie against Kingsbridge, 23-17.

It should be an absolutely fantastic game of rugby and the two sides feature some absolutely fantastic players, Guildford, who are coached by Mike Starmer-Smith, the nephew of England and Harlequins legend Nigel, one of the great commentators, have in their ranks the likes of Quins Academy’s Will Ayton, Jake Golding, Finn Tawse, and Jack Thomas, though Ayton and Tawse will be in Quins colours this weekend, plus Surrey U18 stars Ollie Armitage, Luke Genco, Tom Lang and Henry Boyle, the Seaford College centre who has also played for the Irish Exiles this year.

RGS Guiildford and Wellington College have been among the significant contributors to a squad of about 50 over the course of the season, as well as, among others, Broadwater, Cranleigh, George Abbot, Godalming College, St John’s, Seaford, Churcher’s, Bishop Wand, and Gordon’s.

Among those in action on Sunday will be Starmer-Smith’s son Henry at number 8, and his cousin Arthur Chads, the sniping Seaford College scrum half, and fly half Samm Daniel, who co-captained Wellington College to the recent Shiplake 7s title.

Luctonians have had a similar size of playing group this year, and given their geography the efforts of many of those players to get to games and training has been quite outstanding. Leading the side will be Cam Tudge, who has been at the club since minis, and they are coached by Kieram Hallam, who is also the Head of Rugby at Hereford 6th form College.

It should be an absolutely fantastic game of rugby, Guildford are perhaps the Goliath in the story given some of their players and their Cup winning history, they won it back in 2017. However Luctonians have plenty of reason to hope, not least in that from 128 teams we are now down to just 8, it’s all to play for.

Other Quarter Finals:

Keyworth v Kettering

Cambridge v West Park Leeds

Tonbridge Juddians v Blackheath
