Lambs Rugby: Nomination Process Open | 2023 Lambs Season Structure Revealed

Lambs Team - 230122 - LP

The nominations process for the 2023 Lambs Rugby team has begun, with Heads of Rugby from across the country putting in their nominations of players that could pull on the famous pink shirt this season.

The Lambs are a side created to allow players the chance to showcase their skills at a representative invitational level. The promote traditional rugby values, playing in that Corinthian spirt of heads up running rugby, led by the players rather than coaches, rugby for the sheer joy of rugby. Or simply just, as the Lambs motto goes, Fast and Free.

Players are nominated for consideration by their Heads of Rugby, all they have to do is email Lambs National Director Alex Laybourne on:

Nominations are open to boys from all schools so long as they are in their final year of school, not a member of the RFU Elite Pathway, a Premiership Academy, or playing Divisional Rugby. In other words, the Lambs gives opportunities to exciting young players that have missed out on representative rugby due to other commitments or a lack of selection opportunities.

Once the nominations have been made, the nominated players head to a Development Day on the 15thJanuary, followed by the Chairman’s Day on the 22nd January.

From there squads are selected for the Lambs’ six fixtures, running from late January to mid-April, with Irish Exiles, Coventry Academy, Boys Club of Wales, Crawshays Welsh XV, Ealing Trailfinders, and Exeter Chiefs Academy.

The Lambs’ season is then finished off with the traditional end of season tour, details of which will be announced in due course. The Lambs tour is one of the great schools rugby experiences, akin to a Barbarians tour with enjoyment on and off the field the priorities.

If that sounds up your street, then be sure to get your Head of Rugby to get those nominations in!
